Niche in the USA: Missouri State Highway Patrol Selects Niche RMS

In a development being called the most significant technology project in Missouri State Highway Patrol's history, the US state is kicking off a major systems modernization project that will see the State Highway Patrol undertake five major system upgrades simultaneously, including the implementation of Niche RMS.

In 1999, Canada's Thunder Bay Police was the first police service to install Niche RMS. Peel Regional Police, one of Canada's largest police services, has implemented Niche Records Management System (RMS) as its occurrence management and operational information management software. Peel went live with the full Niche RMS system on April 2, 2008 in an initiative it calls Project Phoenix.

Feature: QPRIME Adds High-Volume Crime To RMS

One of the three largest Niche RMS implementations to date, Australia’s QPRIME (Queensland Police Records Information Management Exchange) went live with the first part of its Phase 2 implementation on June18th. Phase 2.1 adds high-volume crime, domestic violence, property management, child protection, and more intelligence functionality to last year’s Phase 1 roll-out. Next up: Phase 2.2, scheduled to go live by mid 2008, expanding the system to include custody, courts and warrants.

Regina Police Service Pioneers Business-Wide Use of Niche RMS

Regina Police Service (RPS) is one of the most sophisticated users of Niche RMS, leading the way in Canada on mobile direct entry reporting and the electronic transfer of case files to provincial prosecuting authorities. Serving a population of 200,000 over an area of approximately 40 square miles that has one of the highest crime rates in Canada, RPS’ 352 officers and 130 civilians on staff field 65,000 reportable and another 57,000 non-reportable occurrences per year, with an average of over 340 calls per officer.

North Wales Police Pioneer Service-Wide Mobile Access to Niche RMS

North Wales Police (NWP) has made the decision to implement BlackBerry technology as part of a visionary strategy to make Niche RMS available to all officers round the clock. Trials showed that using BlackBerrys to access Niche RMS and e-mail resulted in significant increases in officers’ time out of the police station and in the community, as well as major reductions in ‘dead time,’ in which officers might be required to escort passengers to the station or elsewhere.
